At IVF Tam Anh, where 80% of cases involve complex issues such as long-term infertility, advanced maternal age, diminished ovarian reserve (low AMH), and repeated failed embryo transfers, new techniques—especially in egg and embryo freezing and thawing—bring significant benefits to patients by increasing IVF success rates and helping them achieve healthy, genetically related pregnancies sooner.

In 2024, the cumulative pregnancy rate at the Tam Anh General Hospital Ho Chi Minh City Fertility Center (IVF Tam Anh HCMC) averaged nearly 79%, reaching almost 85% among women under 28 years old. For women over 40, who traditionally face greater treatment challenges and higher likelihood of donor eggs, the cumulative pregnancy rate exceeded 48%.
IVF Tam Anh is at the forefront in comprehensive development and innovation, applying modern strategies such as “accumulating oocytes over multiple cycles” or “accumulating embryos over multiple cycles,” enabling many patients with challenging fertility conditions to conceive genetically related children. Among these, advanced techniques in egg and embryo freezing and thawing are core factors contributing to the outstanding success rates.
Eggs are large cells primarily composed of water, making them highly sensitive and difficult to freeze successfully. Particularly, the meiotic spindle is the most fragile structure during freezing and thawing, affecting embryo development and pregnancy outcomes. Due to these challenges, very few fertility centers worldwide perform these freezing techniques.
At 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, within the Assisted Reproduction section of the 2025 Annual Scientific Pre-Conference Workshop organized by the Tam Anh General Hospital Group, embryologists will share expertise on mastering the Ultra-Fast Vitrification technology, regarded as a breakthrough advancement in In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). This technique surpasses traditional slow freezing with its ultra-rapid thawing speed, optimizing egg and embryo survival rates while minimizing the risk of ice crystal formation. It is considered a key factor determining IVF success.
Specifically, the workshop titled “Ultra-Fast Vitrification for Egg and Embryo Cryopreservation and Thawing” will take place as follows:
- Time: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Date: Saturday, September 27, 2025
- Venue: Meeting Room 1, Tam Anh Research Institute (TAMRI), 2B Pho Quang, Tan Son Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Tan Binh District).
The workshop will feature three important sessions:
- Overview of features and applications of the Ultra Vitrification & Ultra-Fast Warming System by Honami Kobayashi, Technical Advisor of Kitazato Corporation.
- Effectiveness of ultra-rapid thawing technique with initial results at Tam Anh Hospital HCMC by Ms. Le Thi Thu Thao, Deputy Lab Head, Fertility Center of Tam Anh General Hospital HCMC.
- Hands-on practice in ultra-fast vitrification and thawing conducted by the Kitazato team.
With sponsorship and collaboration from Kitazato Corporation and INTESCO Investment Technology Solutions Co., Ltd., this pre-conference workshop provides attendees with the opportunity to update their skills and engage in hands-on practice with specialists. It lays the foundation for broader application and expansion of this cutting-edge technology in clinical practice, advancing IVF development in Vietnam and helping more patients achieve healthy pregnancies sooner.
