Continuing Medical Education Course: “Basic Laparoscopic Abdominal Surgery”

Tam Anh Research Institute HCMC (TAMRI), in collaboration with the Center for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Laparoscopic Surgery at Tam Anh HCMC General Hospital, is now accepting enrollment for the “Basic Laparoscopic Abdominal Surgery” continuing medical education course, which will run from April 8, 2025, to July 7, 2025.

Laparoscopic abdominal surgery is a major achievement and a significant advancement in modern medical science. Compared to traditional open surgery, laparoscopic surgery offers outstanding benefits, including: minimally invasive techniques, small incisions from 5mm to 10 mm, less pain, reduced blood loss, shorter hospital stays, better cosmetic outcomes, effective treatment, and fewer postoperative complications.

The “Basic Laparoscopic Abdominal Surgery” training course is designed for general practitioners and surgeons with a medical practice license to enhance their knowledge and fundamental practical skills in laparoscopic surgical techniques.

1. Training Objectives

Understand the purpose and use of laparoscopic surgical instruments.
Master basic techniques: grasping, cauterizing, cutting, and suturing.
Gain a solid understanding of hemostatic principles and support tools during surgery.
Perform clinical practice under the supervision of experts.
Upon the course completion, participants will receive a certificate issued by the Tam Anh Research Institute, fulfilling the requirements for continuing medical education.

2. Target Participants

General practitioners and surgeons who hold a practice license.

3. Training Duration – Format

Duration: The “Basic Laparoscopic Abdominal Surgery” training course will run for 3 months (from April 8, 2025 to July 7, 2025), including 30 theory hours and 300 practical hours.
Start date: 8:00 AM, Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Tam Anh Research Institute, 2B Pho Quang Street, Ward 2, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City.

Training format:
- Theory sessions: Lecture hall, Tam Anh Research Institute
- Practical sessions: Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City

6. Certification

Upon the course completion, participants who meet the requirements will be awarded a CME Certificate in “Basic Laparoscopic Abdominal Surgery”, issued by Tam Anh General Hospital, under regulations of the Ministry of Health.
