The Tâm Anh Research Institute (TAMRI) and the Nursing Department of Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), are pleased to announce enrollment for the continuous training program themed “Safe Intravenous Therapy,” scheduled from June 7 to July 5, 2025.

Intravenous therapy is a common invasive procedure, offering significant benefits in patient treatment. However, it also carries potential risks if not performed correctly or if patient care is inadequate.
This “Safe Intravenous Therapy” training program is designed to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of nurses, midwives, and medical technicians in performing safe intravenous therapy.
Target Audience
Nurses, midwives, and medical technicians with a college degree or higher who hold a valid professional practice certificate.
Training Objectives
1. Knowledge
- Analyze the scope of professional practice, essential competencies, and ethical aspects of intravenous therapy practitioners.
- Apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology to vascular access and intravenous therapy.
- Describe the steps involved in intravenous infusion, parenteral nutrition administration, chemotherapy infusion, and intravenous medication injection to ensure patient safety.
- Identify local and systemic complications related to intravenous therapy and outline preventive measures.
- Explain the categories of infusion fluids, medications, biological agents, and chemicals that are appropriate or contraindicated for intravenous use.
- Analyze recommended principles in care bundles to prevent complications associated with peripheral intravenous lines from insertion to removal.
2. Skills
- Accurately assess the patient’s condition before, during, and after intravenous therapy.
- Select and proficiently use equipment, tools, and supplies for intravenous therapy, including needles/catheters, connectors, infusion rate monitors, and subcutaneous infusion chambers.
- Perform intravenous infusion, parenteral nutrition, chemotherapy administration, intravenous drug injection, needle insertion, and removal through subcutaneous infusion chambers safely and competently according to Ministry of Health and International Intravenous Therapy Association guidelines.
- Develop care plans and apply care bundles to prevent complications in patients with intravenous lines.
- Monitor, identify, and manage complications and incidents related to intravenous therapy effectively.
- Provide guidance and health education to patients with intravenous lines.
3. Attitude
- Strictly adhere to technical procedures and follow preventive guidelines to ensure patient safety during intravenous therapy.
- Demonstrate honesty, respect, and attentiveness in practice, patient guidance, and counseling.

Duration: Course 1 runs from June 7 to July 5, 2025.

Training Method: In-person
Program Structure: 40 sessions in total (22 theory sessions and 18 practical sessions), including: 10 sessions in simulation rooms and 8 sessions in hospital settings.

Certification
Upon successful completion of the course and fulfillment of all program requirements, participants will be awarded a Certificate of Continuing Medical Education (CME) in “Safe Intravenous Therapy”, issued by the Tâm Anh Research Institute, in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Health.
