Artificial intelligence is profoundly transforming various fields, and healthcare is no exception. ChatGPT — a language model developed by OpenAI — has emerged as a digital “assistant” that helps doctors and healthcare professionals optimize time,  suggest clinical approaches, and enhance patient experience. Pilot tests at several hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, such as Thong Nhat Hospital and Children’s Hospital 1, have shown that proper application of ChatGPT reduces repetitive tasks, accelerates medical literature updates, and standardizes communication.

In response to this practical need, on Saturday, October 11, 2025, Tam Anh Research Institute (TAMRI) will launch an internal training program titled “Applying ChatGPT in Healthcare” for medical staff of the Tam Anh General Hospital Group.

Core benefits of ChatGPT in healthcare

ChatGPT helps healthcare professionals save significant time on administrative and academic tasks, such as drafting reports, creating summaries, translating documents, and developing health education materials. This, as a result, allows medical staff to dedicate more time to direct patient care. With its capability of contextual understanding, the model provides reference-level suggestions for diagnostic or treatment approaches, reminds users of screening criteria, proposes structures for presenting clinical cases, and assists in developing monitoring plans.

In management, ChatGPT helps standardize processes, draft training plans, suggest KPIs, and support preliminary descriptive data analysis, contributing to operational efficiency. When used properly, this tool will become a springboard for lifelong learning for physicians, improve the quality of clinical decision-making, and enhance patient satisfaction.

TAMRI’s “Applying ChatGPT in Healthcare” program

Organized by Tam Anh Research Institute (TAMRI), this program aims to equip medical staff within the Tam Anh General Hospital Group with effective, practical, safe, and evidence-based skills for using ChatGPT. This initiative is also part of TAMRI’s and the Tam Anh General Hospital Group’s response to the government’s call for digital transformation in Vietnam’s healthcare sector.

The program covers the following topics:

  • AI and ChatGPT overview in hospital settings
  • Techniques for creating clinical and academic prompts
  • Practice reading, summarizing medical literature, and citing sources.
  • Applications in clinical pharmacology, nutrition, and administration
  • Standardizing health education materials
  • Data security regulations and digital ethics

Participants will practice with clinical case scenarios, receive specialty prompt templates, a content verification checklist, and guidance on integrating the tool into workflows.

Instructor: Hoang Le Phuc, M.D., Ph.D.

Hoang Le Phuc, M.D., Ph.D. (Head of Gastroenterology Department, Children’s Hospital 1, HCM City) is the program’s main speaker. With years of teaching experience and implementing ChatGPT in healthcare, he has developed and refined over 20 ChatGPT models for medical tasks and an English-Vietnamese translation tool for research and clinical use.

Dr. Hoang Le Phuc and his team have researched, developed, and transferred a method for using ChatGPT through a structured process: goal setting – prompt design – source verification – output standardization – workflow integration. Their work has helped  each command create more value, reduce operational steps, and enhance efficiency for doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and nutrition specialists.
