An update on the evidence regarding the microbiome, gynecological infections, and their impact on female sexual health. This seminar is co-organized by TAMRI, Tam Anh General Hospital, and Biocodex, featuring presentations from Dr. Nguyen Ba My Nhi and Prof. Alessandra Graziottin, along with case analysis, and strategies for diagnosis, treatment, and recurrence prevention.

A healthy vaginal microbiome serves as the foundation for protecting women against various issues, including gynecological infections, reduced overall quality of life, and diminished quality of sexual life. An imbalance in the microbiome can result in numerous adverse effects on both the physical and psychological health of women.
The vaginal microbiome functions as the first line of defense for women’s gynecological health. When the pH level is maintained within the acidic range, the microbiome helps inhibit pathogenic bacteria and fungi, reduces the risk of recurrent infections, supports fertility (by optimizing the sperm environment and reducing mucosal inflammation), and improves the quality of sexual life by alleviating pain, unpleasant odor, and abnormal discharge. Conversely, an imbalance can increase the risk of vaginitis, pregnancy complications, pain disorders, and psychosocial distress. Therefore, protecting and restoring the balance of the microbiome through appropriate hygiene habits, safe sexual practices, appropriate medication use, and regular check-ups is fundamental for women to maintain long-term gynecological health.
This scientific seminar titled “The Microbiome, Gynecological Infections & Women’s Quality of Life,” co-organized by Tam Anh Research Institute (TAMRI), Tam Anh General Hospital Group, and Biocodex, aims to provide updated evidence, analyze real case studies, and share treatment directions that help physicians optimize diagnosis, treatment, and recurrence prevention.
