Tam Anh Research Institute is pleased to announce a specialized seminar on the latest advancements in prenatal ultrasound diagnosis of fetal abnormalities. Titled “Update Sonographic Prenatal Diagnosis Of Fetal Central Nervous System Abnormalities,” this seminar will take place on July 19, 2024.The event is expected to attract significant interest from experts in the field.

According to the Ministry of Health, over 41,000 children are born with congenital abnormalities in Vietnam annually. These include approximately 1,800 cases of Down syndrome, 250 cases of Edwards syndrome, 1,500 cases of neural tube defects, 8,000 cases of Thalassemia, and various other conditions. Tragically, congenital abnormalities lead to the deaths of more than 1,700 infants each year.
Prenatal ultrasound is a critical tool for monitoring fetal development and maternal health throughout pregnancy. It enables healthcare providers to assess the growth and development of the fetus, identify any abnormalities early, and address nutritional deficiencies that may arise during pregnancy.
The seminar will focus on the most recent developments in diagnosing central nervous system abnormalities via ultrasound during the first and second trimesters. Tam Anh Research Institute are honored to host Prof. Ritsuko Pooh, President of the Prenatal Diagnosis Center and Fetal Brain Center at the CRIFM Fetal Medicine PMC Clinical Research Institute in Osaka, Japan. She will be joined by two experts from Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City: Ha To Nguyen, MD, MSc (Director of Fetal Medicine) and La Hong Chau, MD, MSc (Head of Diagnostic Imaging and Interventional Radiology Center).
Prof. Ritsuko Pooh will also conduct a live demonstration of prenatal ultrasound for diagnosing central nervous system abnormalities using compelling clinical cases. This hands-on session aims to enrich participants’ knowledge and share valuable insights from leading experts in the field. We look forward to welcoming healthcare professionals and researchers to this informative event, which promises to enhance understanding and improve outcomes in prenatal care.
