The Tam Anh General Hospital’s Tam Anh Research Institute (TAMRI) received the establishment license from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology on May 28, 2023. The institute’s main office is located at 2B Pho Quang, Ward 2, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City.
The founding ceremony of Tam Anh Research Institute was announced at the 2023 Annual Scientific Conference with the theme “Continuous Innovation – Continuous Development” hosted by Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City and attended by prominent experts from across the nation. Tam Anh Research Institute has been awarded certificates of operation in the fields of:
- Scientific research and technological development in the fields of Economics and Business (e.g., Hospital Administration, Management Science) and Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health (Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Supplement, Anatomy and Morphology, Medical Genetics, Immunology, Neurology, Stem Cells, Pathology and Forensics, Geriatrics…)
- Production trial, production and trading of products are the results of the above scientific research.
- Science and technology services: consulting, critical thinking, evaluation of science and technology tasks; scientific and technological information; product and goods quality testing services, quantity and quality inspection services of products and goods; organizing scientific conferences and seminars; training to improve management, production and business operations and expertise for science and technology staff in the above research fields.
- Cooperate with domestic and foreign organizations and individuals according to registered fields in accordance with the law.

Professor Nguyen Van Tuan, Executive Director of Tam Anh Research Institute, is currently the Director of the Center for Health Technology at the University Technology Sydney (UTS), Academician of the Fellow of Australian Academy of Health and Medical Science (FAHMS), Academician of the Fellow of the Royal Society of New South Wales (FRSN), and Academician of the Fellow of the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research (FASBMR).
Professor Nguyen Van Tuan said: “Tam Anh Research Institute’s vision is to become a prominent medical research center in Asia through international-caliber research, cooperation, transfer, and discovery of clinical applications that enhance patients’ quality of life.”

TAMRI operates on the basis of scientific research and fosters a remarkable, equitable, and transparent scientific environment by:
- Scientific research (precision medicine, genes and genetics, vaccines, basic research, Digital Health);
- Cooperation in scientific research (among national and international research organizations and the transfer of research results based on a policy of mutual benefits);
- Publication on an international scale (increasing TAMRI’s visibility, organizing specialized scientific conferences, and publishing researches in international publications);
- Training (Research Methods, Genetic Research Methods, Data Analysis, International Publication, Scientific Presentation, Specialized CME Courses, Scientific Ethics, Good Clinical Practice GCP). TAMRI is a training hub for both domestic and international medical researchers.
In order to reach this goal, TAMRI plans to create scientific study clubs that will help build a solid foundation of research findings that can then be put to good use in real-world situations to improve patient care. This will make it easier for medical schools from around the world and Vietnam to work together to advance public health in Vietnam and around the world.
Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, Associate Professor Tang Chi Thuong, said at the founding ceremony that the Tam Anh Research Institute is the first research institute in the private hospital sector. By opening the Tam Anh Research Institute, the department has made a big step toward its goal of “Promoting research, development, and innovation” so that the city can become an important medical hub in the ASEAN region.

Nguyen Ngo Quang, Deputy Director of the Administration of Science Technology and Training under the Ministry of Health, lauded Tam Anh General Hospital’s decision to establish the Tam Anh Research Institute. He stressed that this is a big step toward creating a playground for future generations of local and international scientists working in various fields in the health sector, providing opportunities for young physicians and scientists to shape their own future development. Moreover, he pledged to work with the city’s Department of Health and the Tam Anh Research Institute to promote the overall development of the health sector.

Associate Professor Tran Quang Binh, Professional Director of Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, said at the end of the ceremony that he would like to thank and accept the direction of the leaders of the Administration of Science Technology and Training under the Ministry of Health, the Department of Health, and the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City; affirming that the hospital, in addition to the main task of medical examination and treatment, always focuses on scientific research.
