The advanced training program within the framework of the Strategic Partnership between the University of Oxford (UK) and the Tam Anh Research Institute under the Tam Anh General Hospital Group (Tam Anh – Oxford Partnership – TOP) in 2026 is attracting strong interest from the academic community both in Vietnam and internationally. The courses are attracting significant interest thanks to the participation of faculty members from the prestigious University of Oxford.

Previously, in 2025, during its inaugural organization, the TOP Intensive Training Week recorded nearly 100 Vietnamese learners awarded the joint Oxford – Tam Anh Certificate, establishing internationally recognized research standards in Vietnam. Close collaboration with leading scientists from the University of Oxford has reinforced the scientific excellence of the TOP program, making the program one of the most anticipated training activities in early 2026.
For the second consecutive year, Assoc. Prof. Proochista Ariana – Expert in International Development and Health, Director of the MSc in International Health and Tropical Medicine program, Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford, and Dr. Ernest Guevarra, MD, MSc – Lecturer, Senior Researcher for the MSc in International Health and Tropical Medicine program, Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford, will return to teach directly to Vietnamese learners. Not only bringing specially designed lectures on research design and data management with practical application value, the experts also shared their expectations ahead of the upcoming training session.
Prestigious names guaranteeing high professional standards
In charge of the course Introduction to research design: From methodological foundations to practical application, Assoc. Prof. Proochista Ariana is ready to support learners in building a complete, clear research project from start to finish.
Assoc. Prof. Proochista Ariana is a leading expert in empirical analysis, especially in the relationship between development processes and health in resource-limited or transitioning settings. In recent years, she and her colleagues have published a series of notable studies on epidemiology – stroke in Vietnam, Lassa virus in southern Nigeria, oral antibiotics, treatment of uncomplicated malaria…
She holds a PhD in International Development (University of Oxford), an MSc in International Health (Harvard University), and a postgraduate certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (University of Oxford). In 2019, the University of Oxford honored her as a standout educator in the Medical Sciences division, recognizing her academic leadership and efforts in enhancing program quality, supporting alumni networks, and promoting interdisciplinary educational collaboration.
According to her, individual capacity is not the factor causing knowledge gaps in each topic. Therefore, she will spend considerable time exchanging perspectives and enhancing personalized discussions with this year’s learners to help them choose appropriate research methods, work with well-structured research materials, and explore ways to disseminate research results persuasively.
Particularly, closely following current scientific research practices, the issue of applying generative AI in research will also be raised for class members to share viewpoints and seek optimal solutions for common difficulties encountered when starting research.

Assoc. Prof. Proochista Ariana expresses her confidence that the Strategic Partnership between the University of Oxford and Tam Anh Research Institute, spearheaded by the TOP advanced training program, will achieve its envisioned success.
Assoc. Prof. Proochista Ariana also highly appreciates the learning spirit of the participants from diverse professional backgrounds: doctors, pharmacists, nurses, medical technicians, specialists, clinical research coordinators, healthcare management personnel, future research students… in the previous course. She emphasizes that TOP is not an isolated activity but will continue to be expanded, connecting long-term with future training collaboration projects on standardizing research capacity.
Meanwhile, leading the class Data management and transformation in the digital age, Dr. Ernest Guevarra has decided to streamline the curriculum, updating advanced management tools in the operation of Medicine – Health Science units based on core methodological foundations, aiming to maintain the habit of integrating data into research projects for the new generation of learners. Immediately after proficiently practicing this setup step, each learner will have a clear vision of a data management framework compatible with the national context as well as their own working institution, thereby confidently making effective decisions for their organization.
From precise research framing to flexible data transformation
With over 20 years of experience in public health consulting, Dr. Ernest Guevarra, MD, MSc is an expert in the fields of community health and humanitarian health in resource-limited settings. He specializes in developing research and innovative surveys in spatial epidemiology, geostatistics, cartography, and statistical programming based on Bayesian statistics and resampling methods.
Some of his typical research revolves around micronutrient-rich essential foods in India, nutritional supplements for infants and young children in Ghana, coverage assessment tools for micronutrient supplementation programs (FACT, SQUEAC, SLEAC), and community-based management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) programs…
He has held various roles, from Head of Valid Measures (specializing in measurement and analysis using technology) at Valid International, clinical doctor, community health specialist, to founder of the Katilingban group of doctors specializing in public health and nutrition. Currently, he is a Research Data Science Specialist at the EcoHealth Alliance, supporting analysis for pandemic preparedness and One Health research.

Dr. Ernest Guevarra will highlight the pivotal role of data connectivity in scientific research for the 2026 TOP program participants.
Using international standard methods, Dr. Ernest Guevarra delves into the process of integrating fragmented datasets into a unified analytical framework, creating a reliable scientific basis to support both small and large decisions. He supports learners in analyzing the correlation between users – apps – management systems, discussing in depth how data flow amplifies influence on the multi-level activities of each organization.
According to him, the academic exchange atmosphere at the Tam Anh Research Institute always creates extremely favorable conditions for learners to expand connections and quickly form the mindset of integrating data into research projects.
When global knowledge essence converges
It can be seen that the attractiveness of the TOP 2026 Intensive Training Program is rapidly increasing. The two courses will open up a space for academic exchange, where international experts and the Vietnamese research community can discuss, connect, and disseminate knowledge.

The methodical research design thinking from Assoc. Prof. Proochista Ariana, harmoniously combined with the detailed data management capability of Dr. Ernest Guevarra, will contribute to shaping long-term research plans, helping participants develop clear scientific thinking while managing data effectively, proactively creating breakthroughs for Vietnamese science on the international stage.
